Hi there,
I’m Terry.
Author, Blogger, Educator, Problem Solver & Technophile
I have over twenty years of experience administrating Blackboard LMS environments at various institutions. During that time, I have held numerous leadership roles in Blackboard feedback panels and customer-led user groups. 2009, I received a Blackboard Catalyst Award for my work in the Blackboard Community. In 2023, the Anthology company recognized my lifetime of work in the Blackboard Community with the Anthology Impact Award.
I have presented at state, national, and international conferences about emerging and advanced integrations with the Blackboard application. I hold certifications as a Blackboard Trainer and a Blackboard Server Administrator. When not busy as an IT Systems Analyst at Austin Community College and an educational technology consultant, I work to help answer questions from other system administrators.
Awards and Achievements

In 2012, Packt Publishing approached me to write a book on how to administer Blackboard Learn environments. After many months of late nights, Blackboard Learn Administration was published in May 2013. The Blackboard Community well received the book. There isn’t a presentation or conference panel where someone doesn’t walk up to me and thank me for how much the book helped them through tough situations.
In 2009, I was awarded a Blackboard Catalyst Award for my work in Community Collaboration for the new Blackboard Connections website, which would grow into the current Anthology Community site.
From the awards event program…
“Honoring members of the Blackboard user community who go above and beyond the call of duty to support their fellow educators, this award recognizes those who share advice, insight, and best practices with others as they approach key challenges and opportunities in e-learning. For the past few years, Blackboard has recognized the individuals who had made a significant contribution to the client community by having a consistent presence (online or offline) in Community Programs. These members have thought of innovative ways to get other members engaged, created compelling content to share with others and been on the forefront of the Blackboard community.”
In 2023, I was awarded the inaugural Anthology Impact Award for my work improving the Blackboard Learn product within the Anthology Community.

Senior IT Systems Analyst
As a backup to the LMS Manager, I ensure that the LMS runs smoothly and that all data is transferred seamlessly between the LMS and the Student Information System (SIS). I also assist in researching, analyzing, and evaluating emerging LMS technologies, software, and hardware. To keep the LMS secure and reliable, I maintain procedures and policies to ensure the security and integrity of systems and networks. I also proactively review system performance and review and improve system operations practices. In short, I am here to ensure ACC's LMS is always running at its best. This means that your employees and students can focus on learning without worrying about technical issues.
